West Brom v Villa injury news: Lambert upbeat over quintet

West Brom v Villa injury news: Lambert upbeat over quintet

Paul Lambert is optimistic about the fitness of strike duo Christian Benteke and Andreas Weimann going into Monday's trip to West Brom.
Benteke trained with his team-mates despite injuring his knee on international duty with Belgium.
Weimann was also able to join in with the rest of the squad this week after a hamstring problem ruled him out of the victory over Cardiff a fortnight ago.
And, in a further boost for the Villa boss, Ciaran Clark [foot], Antonio Luna [hamstring] and Fabian Delph [knee] are also back in contention.
Brad Guzan is fine despite hurting his ankle in the Cardiff game.
Lambert will also assess the fitness of Gabby Agbonlahor as the striker continues his recovery from an ankle problem.
"Everybody seems not too bad thankfully," said the manager.
"The first time some of them came back was today. They seem to be ok.
"We will see how they are tomorrow and if there is no reaction then hopefully we'll have a clean bill of health.
"Christian seems ok. He got a knock on his knee, as everybody knows, but he trained today.
"Andi will be fine. Ciaran will be ok. Obviously he missed the Ireland game but hopefully that will have done him the world of good.
"We'll see how Gabby is. He is doing really fine at the minute. He hasn't done much up until now. He looks ok.
"Fabian is the same. He is another one who hasn't done much since he has been injured but hopefully he'll be available.
"Luna has trained as well so that's another one that is available. The international break probably came at a good time for us.
"The only thing that is missing is that they haven't done much, apart from Christian."
Lambert also revealed Gary Gardner is likely to resume training next week following a back injury, but Joe Bennett is still a few weeks away from returning to fitness.
