Rummenigge rules out Messi bid
Ballon d’Or holder Messi, who is currently sidelined
until January with a hamstring injury, is contracted to the Catalans
until June 2018 and is reported to have a €250m (£208m) buyout clause
inserted into his contract.
“Messi? We are talking here about figures that are simply absurd,
about a transfer fee that is even higher than we paid for Javi Martinez.
We won’t be going there,” Rummenigge said to Sky 90.“In any case, I know [Barcelona president] Sandro Rosell. Barca would never sell Messi. He is a saint to them and they will not sell him.
“I also think it would be in Messi’s best interests to remain with Barcelona. He fits in perfectly there.”
