Gerrard set for six weeks out with hamstring injury

Gerrard set for six weeks out with hamstring injury

The Liverpool Echo reported the extent of the injury which could not have come at a worse time just ahead of the busy festive programme.
The Reds captain limped off 10 minutes into the second half of the 4-1 win over West Ham and the club had already confirmed that he would be out of next weekend's trip to Tottenham.
But the latest news means that Gerrard is expected to be out until mid-January – meaning he could miss as many as eight matches, including clashes with fellow top four rivals at Manchester City and Chelsea over the Christmas period.
He is expected to be back in action in time for the Merseyside derby against Everton on January 28th, however.
With striker Daniel Sturridge already ruled out with a sprained ankle until mid-January, Gerrard's absence places an even greater burden on Luis Suarez.
